0241 N3 Slow Wave Duration Correlates with Next-Day Savoring Behavior in Pre-pubertal Children

چکیده
Abstract Introduction Recent meta-analysis (Tomaso et al., 2020) indicates sleep loss to have more profound adverse effects on positive than negative emotion, and experimental studies in adults suggest disruption of slow wave (SWS) particular mediates these (Finan 2015; 2017). In pre-pubertal children, greater SWS has been shown protect against next day affect (Palmer & Alfano, 2017) as well the development depression years later (Silk 2007); however specific emotion-based mechanisms underlying rarely explored. Pre-pubertal especially represent a critical developmental window for probing relationships due dramatic decreases that occur during pubertal transition (Carskadon Dement, 2011). Methods We detected waves (0.5 – 4 Hz) N3 using an automated algorithm among N=18 children (7-11 years) night normal relation next-day savoring; emotion regulation strategy includes thoughts actions increase intensity, duration, appreciation experiences emotions. Healthy without any psychiatric disorders completed at-home PSG monitoring (10 hr opportunity). The morning at 11:00, returned clinic in-lab emotional assessment. Before assessment, were told/reminded they would be given piece chocolate enjoy end After consumed chocolate, asked several questions about how much ‘savored’ experience. All analyses controlled total time there no differences SWA based gender. Results indicated average duration SWs (F3/F4) correlated significantly with extent which enjoyed overall (r =.50, p <.05), felt did good job enjoying while eating it =.44-.49, <.05) looked forward assessment =.46-.50, <.05). Conclusion Although preliminary, novel findings intensity may modulatory effect subsequent responses experiences/events, could protective longer term affective health. Support (If Any)

ABR slow wave and stimulus duration.
The slow wave (SW) component of the auditory brainstem response (ABR) was recorded in eight young adult subjects of both genders who had normal hearing sensitivity and who exhibited normal behavioral temporal integration (TI) functions. Test stimuli were 500- and 2000-Hz tone bursts, with rise and decay ramps of two periods, ranging in total duration from 2.5 msec to 44 msec. The responses appe...
متن کاملCortistatin promotes and negatively correlates with slow-wave sleep.
Sleep need is characterized by the level of slow-wave activity (SWA) and increases with time spent awake. The molecular nature of this sleep homeostatic process is practically unknown. Here, we show that intracerebroventricular administration of the neuropeptide, cortistatin (CST-14), enhances EEG synchronization by selectively promoting deep slow-wave sleep (SWS) during both the light and dark...
متن کاملControl of voice gender in pre-pubertal children.
Adult listeners are capable of identifying the gender of speakers as young as 4 years old from their voice. In the absence of a clear anatomical dimorphism in the dimensions of pre-pubertal boys' and girls' vocal apparatus, the observed gender differences may reflect children's regulation of their vocal behaviour. A detailed acoustic analysis was conducted of the utterances of 34 6- to 9-year-o...
متن کاملA community analysis of dental plaque in pre-pubertal children
Healthy children, aged between 5 and 9 years who had not taken antibiotics in the preceding three months were recruited. Plaque was sampled from the gingival crevice of either the lower left or lower right first permanent molar to estimate the prevalence of Porphyromonas gingivalis, Actinobacillus actinomycetemcomitans and Tannerella forsythensis which have been implicated as main etiological a...

OBJECTIVE To assess the cross-sectional association of epicardial fat with insulin resistance, major abdominal adipose depots, and cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk factors in obese pre-pubertal and early pubertal children. METHODS By using magnetic resonance imaging in 30 pre-pubertal and early pubertal patients [21 males, Tanner Stage I-II, median age 11.2 (2.95) y, BMI z-score 2.56 ± 0.11 ...
